Professor of Painting/Textile Art

1953 Born in Lichtenstein/Saxony. Apprenticeship as pattern draughtsman. Textile Design studies at technical college level. Since 1972, participant in the Saturday courses by Josep Renau, an exiled Spanish painter living in East Berlin. Work as restorer of state palaces and gardens in Potsdam Sanssouci. 1975–1980 Painting/Textile Art studies at the University for Industrial Design Halle – Burg Giebichenstein. 1986–1989 Master scholar at the Academy of the Arts in Berlin (East). 1990 Co-founder of the artists’ association Kunst und Form. Since 1992 partnership with the State Tapestry and Textile Factory Halle. Since 1998 Supervisory board member. 1995-2018 Professor at BURG, Art Faculty. 1996–2006 Trips to the Tarahumara in North Mexico inspired by Renau and the texts of Antonin Artaud. Commissioned works, works owned by the public sector, building-related art, participation in international competitions, exhibitions in Germany and abroad, including Berlin, Leipzig, Munich, Paris, Arth/Switzerland, Ottawa/Canada and Anchorage/USA. 2018 retirement from university teaching.
